Full name: Dr. Gregory House, M.D. Canon: House, M.D. / TV Show Canonical point of entering the game: Directly after House vs. God (ep.3x19) A description of Gregory House's appearance: Usually scruffy, unkempt and unshaven. He doesn't care about appearances beyond comfort. He walks with a limp and with a cane, due to an infarction he had in his right thigh more than five years ago. ![]() A brief description of Gregory House's history: Born 8th June, 1959 to parents John and Blythe House, an only child, he was raised the son of a Marine pilot, whom rarely had much time for House as a result of his job. When he completed his five years of medical school, he furthered his training into a double-specialisation in nephrology and infectious diseases. In the spring of 1995 when he was stationed in New Jersey, House met -- by pure accident -- Stacy, an up and coming lawyer with sharp wit that matched his. He was instantly attracted to her, asked her out, treated her terribly on their first date and they moved in together one week later. It was through Stacy that House met James Wilson, another person with sharp wit that seemed to know how to handle House's verbal punches. In the fall of 1996, while playing golf with Stacy, House was struck with a sudden thrombosis in his right leg, precisely in the lateral circumflex femoral artery, the quad compartment of his thigh. A misdiagnosis that stretched over three days resulted in a four-day blockage, otherwise known as a venous infarction. This resulted in muscular necrosis, and while he requested to have the blockage flushed, Stacy -- while he was placed under a chemically-induced coma -- stepped in as his power of attorney and ordered for the necrotic tissue to be removed. Being there was such extensive debridement of the necrotic tissue, he ended up losing the entire quad compartment and a portion of the adductors in his thigh, which resulted in chronic pain that he has endured ever since; pain which he attempts to control with Vicodin. Up until arriving at the Hotel California, he worked at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, in Diagnostics. ![]() A brief description of Gregory House's personality: Gregory House is blunt, arrogant, obnoxious, self-seeking, self-righteous, obsessive, overbearing, rude, stubborn and he doesn't really care if anyone knows if he cares or not. He often makes out he doesn't care at all, with the harsh realities he imposes upon people. His mannerism of speaking gives it the idea that he cares very little about people or about anything. He does care, however; he is a very passionate man (though not really at all compassionate), who throws himself head-first into the things he believes in, usually recklessly. He is very intuitive, perceptive and insightful towards others, with a very strong understanding of what human nature is all about. Contrary, House is very self-destructive. He has an addictive personality by nature, one that is never satisfied, one that he fills with, for want of a better word, emptiness. He has a very fulfilling job, one that sates his desires to always be challenged and pushed, but he lives a very empty life. Part of that is due to his upbringing -- he's always been a loner; part of that has to do with self-esteem -- he has a very low self-esteem, yet he hides that through his façade of arrogance and obnoxiousness; part of that has to do with how much he's been hurt; while he comes across as uncaring, spiteful and narcissistic, House feels things very deeply. He has great difficulty showing it, however, which is why -- when he's going through an emotionally hard time -- he lashes out viciously at people. He holds onto things he can't change, he can't handle failure and he can't let go of failure, either. ![]() Gregory House's inventory: - His iPodDisclaimer: Dr. Gregory House is the property of David Shore and affiliates.
